Over the course of my 30+ years in tennis—as both a player and coach—I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible evolution of racquet technology. What began with basic aluminum frames has progressed through graphite and now into advanced carbon fiber constructions, with continual innovation shaping the game.
To help simplify the racquet selection process, I’ve put together my top recommendations by skill level. These suggestions are based on extensive firsthand experience—I’ve personally tested every racquet on this list and own the majority of them.
That said, I always encourage players to try a racquet on court before making a significant investment, especially with prices often exceeding $200.
If you’re looking for more personalized advice beyond the list, feel free to reach out via message or text—I'm happy to help.

In 2025 I picked up an 8th Generation Blade and have loved it. It is maneuvarable, accurate and has good service response for my swing speed and styles.
The 9th Generation is on my hit-list as I'd like to move to it around Christmas (hint, hint).

Backpacks, T-Shirts & Grip - winning combo!
These type of tennis backpacks are value packed - from racquet specific storage to shoe and wet-item storage - they have it all.
Babolat is shown, but other brands include Head, Wilson & Yonex.
Playing great AND looking great - well, it's always been my strategy!
I always encourage parents to dress their kiddos for comfort , and having breathable and proper fitting clothing for tennis is key.
Pro Tip: Always buy shorts/tennis skirts with pockets for tennis for match-play.
The racquet is an extension of the hand/arm/body - the connection point needs to be dry, comfortable and reliable - I've used Yonex brand grips now for the past 6 months .
Other brands I recommend: Diadem, Head or Wilson.
