I get asked this time of year - "Hey Coach - what kind of racquet does my kiddo need?" or "Coach, what type of grip do you use? My kid bugs me about how great your racquet feels!"
Well, here is my 2023 list of favorites and top recommendations for players of all levels and abilities!
I always recommend doing a 'DEMO' on racquets but here are some tried and true recommendations:
Yonex adds another chapter to the EZONE 98!
The updated 2022 Ezone series is listed on Tennis Warehouse website and I recommend checking them out by clicking here.
JUNIOR RACQUETS
Additional consideration for younger players are the 26" racquets Yonex has available - check them out by clicking this link.
Quick Note: Babolat racquets are one of my overall favorite over the years despite recently using Diadem & Yonex.
The Drive Series for Babolat is outstanding for power and stability on serves, volleys, and strokes. These racquets are easy to maneuver and offer great stability & amazing power on the strokes for intermediate-advanced players.
GRIP SIZES
12 & Under - Grip Size range 4" to 4-1/4"14 & Over - Grip Size range 4-1/4" and up
I have an entire page dedicated to the different types of Diadem racquets - so head over there and call or text with questions!
DEMOS are always available if I am on the court.
Backpacks, T-Shirts & Grip - winning combo!
These type of tennis backpacks are value packed - from racquet specific storage to shoe and wet-item storage - they have it all.
Other brands include Head, Wilson & Yonex.
Playing great AND looking great - well, it's always been my strategy!
I always encourage parents to dress their kiddos for comfort , and having breathable and proper fitting clothing for tennis is key.
Pro Tip: Buy nothing without pockets for tennis for match-play.
The racquet is an extension of the hand/arm/body - the connection point needs to be dry, comfortable and reliable - I've used Yonex brand grips now for the past 6 months .
Other brands I recommend: Diadem, Head or Wilson.
Other great gift ideas include: Tennis Ball Hopper, Headbands, Sweat shirts (tennis themed)
